ClearHome.ie is a free set of calculators and guides for people buying or renting a home in Ireland. It exists because working out a real, Ireland-specific number — what stamp duty actually costs on a new build, how much the Rent Tax Credit is really worth, how much notice a landlord has to give — usually means digging through Revenue manuals, RTB pages, or scattered news coverage. ClearHome.ie puts the calculation in one place, with the source and the date it was checked shown next to the result.

What this site is not

ClearHome.ie is an independent, privately run site. It is not affiliated with, and is not operated by, the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB), Revenue, the Central Bank of Ireland, the Housing Agency, or any government department. Where a calculator covers a scheme run by one of those bodies (such as Help to Buy or the First Home Scheme), the relevant official page is always linked as the authoritative source.

The calculators are built to be accurate and clearly sourced, but they're estimation tools, not a substitute for advice from a solicitor, accountant, mortgage broker, or the RTB directly for a decision that matters.

How accuracy is maintained

Every calculator's underlying rates and rules live in a single, version-controlled file with a source link and a "last reviewed" date — visible on the calculator itself, not just in the code. When a rule changes (a new Budget, a legislative reform), the old figures are kept rather than overwritten, so it's always clear what changed and when.
